The idea is to be able to set alerts for dates, for example, the anniversary of an employee. It would be great if the person in charge could receive an alert for all the due dates in the next month, without having to edit the records to trigger the alert.

It would be excellent if it was possible to notify users with an email alert when an Opportunity for which they are on the sales team has been updated. 

Ideally, the following information should be in the email:
The account

The opportunity name/sales stage/probability/amount/close date

A summary of what was updated, for instance:

Sales Stage changed at time, date from value to value by user full name

Currently, the Lotus Notes Edition does not try to attach emails to CC/BCC recipients when using "Send and Add" or "Add Email". We definitely need this functionality as we would like to track everyone involved in any sales interactions.

Import from Vcard/Outlook/Entourage

IMPORT VCARDS DIRECTLY INTO SALESFORCE.COM

My team just returned from a trade show and we quickly imported all of our Leads into our Outlook or Entourage email programs, using the business card reader software. Unfortunately, there is no way to easily import this info into SalesForce.com. Why wouldn't Saleforce automate the importing of Vcards or sell a business card scanner that pulls the data right into a Lead or Contact?

It takes SEVERAL HOURS to get all the data right in Salesforce.com, and basically equates to having to enter the data twice: once, for our desktop email clients, and then, for Salesforce,com. I would gladly pay for this capability. We had over 183 Leads between us, and all my team members complained about having to input all these data manually into Salesforce.com, after they had been easily imported into their desktop computer programs.

Searching for Texts in Word Attachments

We store a large number of Word attachments, for instance, one attachment against each Contact record. It would be useful, if the search facilities allow you to:
  1. Search for a specified text in the Word attachments. For instance, we want to search all attachments held on Salesforce for those containing the word "Christmas"
  2. Search for a specified text in the titles of attachments

Send and add while Offline (In Flight) for Outlook Edition

We love Outlook Edition, but in several places it falls short. It was a real disappointment for us to find out that unless you are connected to the Internet and SFDC that you cannot use the 'Send and Add' function in Outlook Edition 2.0. For us, this means having to remember to go into drafts and open "Send and Add" to 30+ emails after a cross country flight. Sometimes, we remember, and sometimes, we don't. When we don't (usually, this is because we got back home at 1am from a week of travel), it costs us.

Removing this shortfall would surely go along way to making life much easier and return the Outlook Edition to the pedestal it had always occupied in sales presentations.
